Description
ECC83 made in by Brimar UK. 1955
This is a red label ECC83 produced by Brimar UK. The tube has a inclined wire-getter, see pictures. The screen print is mediocre and but etched code is clearly visible. See pictures. The early Brimar is highly regarded. Very healthy NOS specs! Tube with matching systems; see test results.
Sonics
The acoustic properties of the long plate ECC83 (Brimar production) are legendary and widely known. The overall soundstage of Brimar 12AX7 tubes, like the British Millards, is warm (warmth in the mid and lower regions) and lively with a very spacious soundstage. These tubes reproduce the human voice with impressive realism (opera!). The British-made Brimar tubes provide a beautiful sparkle at the top end of the spectrum coupled with rich bass. This tube type is low-noise and therefore very suitable for pre-amplification. I refer to the many threads on the web for more information.
Excellent preamp valve, low noise, very smooth extended highs, very good in phono stages. Balanced and smooth sounding with liquid midrange, recommended!
Test method & results
The tube has been tested carefully with the original Telefunken test set-up and our sophisticated test equipment. Please read our test method for the ECC83 tube family. The measurement data below show that the tube is balanced. And fulfills the factory specs of a new/NOS tube.
