Description

Mullard UK production of the sixties!

This is a pair ECC82 produced by Brimar in the sixties in Blackburn, United Kingdom for Daystrom. The tubes have ribbed grey plates and a clear inner, see pictures. Very healthy tubes with NOS specs! Tubes with matching systems; see test results.  The etch code on the tubes (Gf1 B 2B4, see pictures) shows that in both tubes are the same version and production week.

Sonics

The overall sound character of British made tubes is warm and lively with a very spacious sound stage. The top end is silky and pleasant and doesn’t get rolled off. They retain a fine sense of “air” at the top, and the upper midrange is smooth and liquid. These tubes reproduce the human voice, especially female voices, with impressive realism. They are also known for a rich bass. With respect to the previous these Mullard ECC82’s are no exception.

Note: if your system is to “warm” already, this tube is not a first choice. ECC82 tubes from Philips, Valvo or Siemens & Halske are to be considered in that situation.
