Description
This is a Philips Miniwatt 12AT7 ( ECC83) produced by Mullard in the sixties in Blackburn the UK. The tube has a ring getter, copper grid posts and ribbed plates (Version I61), see pictures. Very healthy tube with NOS specs! Tube with matching systems; see test results.
Sonics
The early short plate Mullard ECC83 is highly regarded for its great mid range and solid bass. It can be described as warm smooth and rich. I refer to the many threads on the web for more information. Excellent preamp valve, low noise, very smooth extended highs, very good in phono stages. Balanced and smooth sounding with liquid midrange, recommended!
Note: if your system is to “warm”, this tube is not a first choice. ECC83 tubes of Mullard, Brimar or Telefunken are to be considered in that situation.
Please read our test notes and shipping policy before buying !
Test results*
The tube has been tested carefully with the original Telefunken test set-up and our sophisticated test equipment. Please read our test method for the ECC83 tube family. The measurement data below show that the tube is nicely balanced.
