Description
ECC83 Philips/Monza D-foil getter, long plates; made in March 1958 by Monza, Italy UK.
Description
This is an early ECC83 double triode that is produced by Philips Miniwatt in the Monza factory (near Milano). The tube has a D-foil getter, copper grid posts and long plates (mC6-series), see pictures. The tube is manufactured in March 1958. The tube is assumed to be NOS !; no signs of use at all. Very healthy tube with NOS specs and perfect matching systems; see test results.
Note. The long plates mC* series are considered as the sonic pinnacle of the ECC83 tubes. This Philips Monza tube is no exception.
Sonics
The early D-foil long plate ECC83, is highly regarded; it delivers space and transparency. I refer to the many threads on the web for more information. Excellent preamp valve, low noise, very smooth extended highs, very good in phono stages. Balanced and smooth sounding with liquid midrange, recommended!
Test method & results
The tube has been tested carefully with the original Telefunken test set-up and our sophisticated test equipment. Please read our test method for the ECC83 tube family. The measurement data below show that the tube is balanced. And fulfills the factory specs of a new/NOS tube.
