Description
Once in a lifetime: Copenhagen ECC83 long welded plates; march 1954
This is a very early ECC83 Philips tube made in Copenhagen Denmark. It has long welded plates, D-getter with square foil and copper posts.
This tube coded ΔH mCD is a very special one. The tube has welded plates. This version is considered as the pinnacle of the ECC83 tubes. No ECC83 (or equivalent) has a nicer sound reproduction.
These long plates are the most sought after ECC83 valves. Much rarer than the long plate Telefunkens. Very healthy tubes with matching systems; see test results. A tube in this condition is almost impossible to find.
Sonics
The acoustic properties of the early long plates are legendary and widely known. I refer to the many threads on the web for more information. Excellent preamp valve, low noise, very smooth extended highs, very good in phono stages. Balanced and smooth sounding with liquid midrange, recommended! The best sounding of all.
Test method & results
The tubes have been tested carefully with the original Telefunken test set-up and our sophisticated test equipment. Please read our testmethod for the ECC83 tube family. The measurement data below show that the tube is balanced. And fulfill the factory specs of a new/NOS tube.
